Oscar nominees were announced on Tuesday, including the list of potential honorees for Best Picture. While this category can sometimes be full of films with less box office success, recent efforts to expand Best Picture consideration has opened it up to more blockbuster-type movies.

Using data from Tubular Labs, we're able to look at the top Best Picture nominees this year by social views for trailers and promotional videos across YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

  • Avatar: Way of Water led the way with over 428 million, followed by Top Gun: Maverick (348 million+) and Elvis (256 million+).
  • But other movies on the nominees list also had plenty of views – with titles like All Quiet on the Western Front (Netflix) and Everything Everywhere All At Once (A24) both topping 40 million views globally.
  • Both Triangle of Sadness (NEON) and Banshees of Inisherin (Searchlight) had just 2.4 million views through Jan. 24.
