Women's basketball has been having a "moment" for a couple years now, and that's only poised to continue as some of the college game's biggest stars head off to the WNBA. Data from Tubular Labs recently dove into how women's basketball content has been performing on social video:

  • Tubular data found that since April 2023, Caitlin Clark’s viewership has increased by 160% across social platforms.
  • From Q1 2023 to Q1 2024, TikTok viewership for Angel Reese grew by 24.6%. Her viewership peaked during March Madness 2023, when Reese’s team, LSU, won the national championship against Iowa. That month, she earned 255 million views on TikTok.
  • Viewership for the WNBA Draft held its own this year, even next to the recent NFL Draft. Videos about the WNBA Draft have earned 395 million views, roughly 58% of NFL Draft viewership — which speaks volumes to just how far women’s sports have come. See below, comparing the WNBA Draft (orange) vs. NFL Draft (green).
