Following Wednesday's release of the 2024-25 NFL regular season schedule, the league shared with Sports Business Journal that it used TV ratings as a guiding force for how the slate took shape. And with more standalone spots than ever, there were ample opportunities to spotlight both established and up-and-coming franchises.

  • The Kansas City Chiefs didn't get the most primetime slots, BUT are featured in both late-season Saturday slots and one of the two Christmas Day spots (the Wednesday Christmas Day games necessitated those same four teams played the Saturday prior).
  • Despite missing the playoffs last year, the New York Jets are tied for the most primetime appearances, with six, and are tied for the second-most standalone appearances with seven.
  • Last year's breakout trip to the NFC Championship Game also meant fans will see plenty of the Detroit Lions this season – with six standalone games, including five in primetime (the non-primetime game is the Lions' traditional Thanksgiving Day contest).
