In its best use cases, AI can generate significant efficiencies across a variety of industries. And despite valid concerns around how AI will impact site traffic, publishers are also finding success with AI-assisted headlines to generate higher click-through rate lift.

Data from Chartbeat shares more around how its Headline Testing Suite results differed from non-AI headlines:

  • Notably, AI-assisted headlines generated 55% click-through rate lift, and AI headlines (from non-AI-assisted experiments) generated 50% lift.
  • More starkly, AI-assisted headline experiments yielded a 32% click-through rate lift, versus just 6% for non-AI headlines.

According to Chartbeat, AI testing would appear to be beneficial for headline experiments when it comes to click-through rate. And on a smaller scale, it also impacted engagement rates.

AI-assisted headlines saw 8% engagement lift on average, versus 3% for non-AI headlines.

Engaged clicks for AI-assisted headlines hit a 68% lift rate, versus 54% for non-AI headlines.

In an environment where budgets are under increased scrutiny, being able to utilize AI to generate higher click-through rates and engagement is crucial for publishers. Check out more of Chartbeat's AI findings on their blog.
