Is YouTube TV? The answer is that it depends on who you ask, and how you're measuring it.

Tubular Labs recently dove into device-level insights around global YouTube viewership at VidCon, revealing some key findings for TV and mobile content viewing – and trends that shed light on where YouTube's heading as a platform.

  • Impressively, Tubular shares that as of May 2025, 69% of YouTube viewership occured on mobile devices.
  • And while only 16% of views occured on TV, that audience accounted for 42% of estimated minutes watched – which was No. 1 above mobile (and has been for the past two months, and three of the last five).
  • Understanding the devices audiences are watching YouTube content on, and how "views" and watch-time differ helps publishers and brand make more appropriate content investments in ways that cater to viewer preferences and wider trends.
