Theo Von And the Rise of "Bro Podcasts"

Theo Von is an American stand-up comedian, podcaster and actor mainly known for his edgy jokes and his podcast that regularly features celebrities. Often, his humor is self-deprecating, filled with stories of surreal anecdotes and observational comedy. That may not seem like an earth-shattering formula, yet... it works.
- Tubular Labs data shows that over the last three years, Von has received 663 million views on YouTube, largely stemming from his podcast, "This Past Weekend" (full episodes all stream on YouTube, as well as Spotify).
- Honing in on the last six months, Von's YouTube audience skews primarily males, ages 25-to-34; a group that makes up 37.6% of his overall viewership. In total, 90% of Von's YouTube audience is male, and nearly 75% of his audience is men under 45.
- According to Tubular, his male-dominated podcast audience also has a 51.65% overlap with the Joe Rogan podcast – for brands looking to reach Rogan's audience minus the higher price tag.
Von is following the same path as other so-called “Bro Podcasters” such as Rogan, Lex Fridman and Two Bears One Cave. All of them have featured President Donald Trump, and as a result, achieved recent viewership highs according to Tubular.
It'll be interesting to see how "Bro Podcasting" growth continues or not we get further from Trump's inauguration. But for now, the subgenre seems to be finding success among men on the internet.
