Late Night TV Grabs YouTube Liferaft
Late night is under fire on traditional TV, but the same can't be said for its footprint on YouTube.
Despite the ongoing war on late night and declining linear audiences, these shows are still finding significant – and growing – success on YouTube. Especially since late last year. Tubular Labs data digs further into these trends, over on TVREV. But some of the major points:
- Comparing Jan. 2025 to Jan. 2026, YouTube views for The Daily Show have nearly doubled as the show has surged considerably since the fall.
- Since returning from a (controversial) short-term suspension in August, Jimmy Kimmel Live has consistently seen 20-30% more views compared to the early part of 2025.
- Even with lower raw view counts than peers, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is averaging nearly 2 million views per upload as its passionate audience tunes in en masse.
Head over to TVREV for more on how late night is utilizing YouTube as a liferaft.
