How Long Should APAC News Videos Last?
There is no one-size-fits-all solution for video length. However, digging into the underlying data around platforms, genre and geography can at least point video creators in the right direction.
Data from Tubular Labs' recent deep-dive on global news videos shows the vast differences between the number of uploads from publishers in the APAC (Asia-Pacific) region vs. the average engagement each video receives.
- From Nov. 11, 2025-Feb. 8, 2026: APAC audiences were most engaged with 0-to-30 second videos, or 15-to-20 minute videos.
- Despite this, upload strategies did not conform to those most engaging formats; mid-length (2-to-5 minute videos) dominated upload volume – with nearly 700K – yet received the fewest engagements per upload.
- Understanding this data allows publishers to step back from the video durations that were less engaging and lean in those that produced more results by that metric.
- For instance, the data in the chart below showcases how all durations in the 1-to-10 minute range underperformed engagement vs. uploads, while Shorts and 15-to-20 minute videos overperformed (and have some potential whitespace for more content as a result).
