With year-over-year increases across both ad airings and minutes on TV, it’s harder than ever for brands to cut through the noise and stand out against the competition. In its forthcoming 2023 TV Transparency Report, iSpot reveals how some advertisers are fighting the uphill battle for attention. A few key takeaways:

  • QSR brands leveraged laughs: 96.8% of the 500 most likeable QSR ads of 2023 scored for “funny” – slightly more than those that scored for “yummy” (96.6%).
  • Be attuned to age: 2023’s top 100 ads by attention showed minimal overlap between older and younger viewers. Just 22% of the top ads by attention for consumers aged 50+ were also among the top 100 for consumers 21-to-35 years old.
  • Restaurants resonate with men: 57% of male respondents’ 100 most watchable ads were from restaurant brands.
