DJ Vlad Gets More Watch-Time Per Viewer Than Legacy Media
Former DJ Vladislav Lyubovny averaged 40.6 minutes watched per unique U.S. viewer on YouTube last month, while leaning into longer-form interviews and clips that hooked and then kept people’s attention for extended periods.
Vlad primarily interviews figures in the music and hip hop communities on his channel, but his interview with Tekashi 6ix9ine really appeared to move the needle. The full interview ran for nearly four hours and garnered over 837K views, according to data from Tubular Labs. But these viewers didn’t just hop in and hop right back out. Many hung around for extended stretches of the lengthy discussion.
DJ Vlad’s October watch-time was near one-year highs on the month, but with fewer viewers than he had nine months ago. However, the channel is still finding significant success by leaning into its tried-and-true formula of long interviews, and then simply using Shorts as a means to get people to watch the complete video.
At 40.6 minutes watched per unique U.S. YouTube viewer, DJ Vlad outpaced MS Now, The Daily Show, ABC News, Megyn Kelly and other, more traditional and established news channels for the month.
