While we're still months out from the 2024 U.S. presidential election, you can already start seeing some trends emerge around social video consumption regarding the main candidates – Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Tubular Labs data shows Trump leading Biden by YouTube views, but of course, there are also some caveats around what that audience looks like.

  • Tubular found that over the last six months, Trump has amassed nearly twice as many YouTube views as Biden, though the candidates are far more even (53.3% to 46.6%) on Facebook video.
  • Social video can be a place to reach younger audiences and voters, but notably, most of the candidates' YouTube viewers are both decidedly older and male: Nearly 50% of Biden & Trump YouTube viewers were men over 45.
  • Adding women as well, almost 66% of Biden and Trump viewers were over 45. And only 16% of viewers were 34 years or younger.
