Hulu's impending integration into Disney+ could be the shot of life the latter streaming service needs, especially in light of its waning demand for original shows. Data from Parrot Analytics reveals how Disney+ titles have lost steam over time, from a demand perspective – which is a situation Hulu may be positioned to correct.

  • Disney+'s most fruitful window of increasing demand came from September 2020-September 2021, when the service’s average demand even peaked at 4.7x at the tail end of that stretch.
  • From that impressive peak, Disney+’s average original title demand has shrunk by 24% as of the end of 2023.
  • The universally panned Secret Invasion series from Marvel in 2023 had demand closer to 3.2x, adding to larger quality control and volume issues for the wider superhero franchise.
