Major Media Companies Still Duking It Out For Streaming Series Demand

Streaming series demand is one part of the larger question around which services are most popular with audiences. Yet, even a merger between behemoths Paramount and NBCUniversal wouldn't provide much clarity there, as demand-share data from Parrot Analytics shows.

  • The Walt Disney Co. led major media companies by U.S. audience demand shares for series, with 19.8%, edging out Warner Bros. Discovery's 17.0%.
  • As Parrot points out, Paramount and NBCU could make up a lot of ground by combining forces to win 21.8% of series demand shares.
  • But it's also worth wondering if which corporate overlord has the most assets at this point even matters as much now – especially as Netflix goes back to nabbing licensed content from the other studios.
