How Top WNBA Draft Picks Stack Up on Social

Monday’s WNBA draft saw some of the breakout stars from the NCAA season move into the big leagues — led, of course, by Caitlin Clark. Clark was the overall No. 1 pick, joining the Indiana Fever, followed by Cameron Brink, picked second by the Los Angeles Sparks, while South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso and LSU’s Angel Reese were both selected by the Chicago Sky. These are just a few of the women who have been thrust into the cultural zeitgeist through astounding on-court performances — and their social media presences have grown accordingly. A few stats, from CreatorIQ

  • Kamilla Cardoso has seen absolutely explosive growth in her Instagram audience, growing followers by 746% from November 2023 to present, with a 209% uptick just in the last month.
  • Cardoso has a 40.68% engagement rate on Instagram, considered “exemplary” by CreatorIQ — only 2.28% of Instagram accounts achieve a rate that high. Clark is close behind for engagement with 39.72% (also “exemplary”).
  • For pure audience size, Angel Reese beats out both Clark and Cardoso, sporting a cool 3 million followers on both Instagram and TikTok.
  • Cameron Brink has the most male-dominated audience of the four (67.3%), while Clark has the highest percentage of female followers (46.8%).
